By Project Professional Ghana

Full Chapter

In the public, institution, efficiency is an element that describes the level of “knowledge and qualifications of the personnel, and the quality of the public services that is directly influenced by the human resources, from its composition”. The study evaluated the contribution of store function in improving the efficiency of a public institution. To achieve the objective of the study, convenient sampling was used to select 44 staffs of the Eastern Regional Hospital. The main data collection instrument used was the questionnaire. The data were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (Version 26) software and presented using percentages, frequencies and tables. The findings revealed that store function improves the smooth flow of goods needed for hospitals operation. This ensures transparency and accountability with funds used for procuring stocks, by reducing the direct financial losses on the delivery of damaged or expired stocks. Also, it prevents the poor quality of goods, works and services delivered to the Hospital. It was recommended that the management of Eastern Regional Hospital should encourage continual review of their internal store functions or activities to ascertain their effects regularly. They will ensure that the unplanned procurement practices are eliminated to help achieve the organizational goals through their internal store practices.
